The Mae Bird Takes Flight

Goodbye.
Time for change, and it's a good thing.

I started a new blog, with a new name, which will have photos from my new camera. It's a new era, a new stage in my photography and in my life. It's good. It's a good place to be. I've been trying to figure out what I like and what makes me happy. I am getting there and I am realizing that I don't need to over think it, I just need to do it and let it be.

With my new camera comes new photos and fun. Also comes new opportunities. I want to put myself out there for photo shoots: people, scenes, food and things. All of it. So,

Hello.

Memorial Park

Thanks Hannah, for being my first model. This new camera is going to take some getting-used-to, but I am loving it already.

Tomorrow is 5D-Day

Tomorrow is the day I get my camera. I'm itchin to get it, I'm practically counting the hours. My heart just might be crushed if it doesn't arrive tomorrow.

I have so many adventures already lined up. The next day I have my first photoshoot... There is a wedding on the calendar, and engagements. I plan on taking a photo of every dish I make (little obsession with food photography). There is an obligated trip to Eaton Canyon as soon as UPS drops the thing off... So much to do, so exciting.

If I had the thing already I would have had lots of tasty photos of our recent food creations. We've made, Chipotle White Beans, Lentil Soup, A Blueberry Version of this, Chewy Snack Cake, even made tamales! {photo above - taken on my mom's camera.} It's been fun trying to use up the veggies in our CSA box - we are getting pretty good at it.

Happy 2009

We spent it with friends, making noises, parading around and having a good time.

Tradition

2008

2006

2004

I love traditions.

We've been going Matt's house for at least 5 years for a Christmas party / White Elephant Exchange... As I remember past years a few things come to mind: over-sized Homer dolls, reappearing toilet seats, dancing to the record player, eatable crickets, Nana, Tuesday night friends, the fire place, and friends have come and gone... Good times.

Do you have any holiday traditions?

Cold Shoulder and 7 Minute Commute

I've been silent because I have been busy and ... you ready for this ... because my camera is broken! I am lost without it, I don't even have a small pocket camera to get me by. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I had a camera, any camera, and how many shots were missed. Especially today, with the mountains lightly dusted with snow...

But there is some good news. Goodbye trusty camera, hello new camera. That's a premature hello... I'm in the process of finding one and I am very excited, any recommendations?

In other news: we moved!

What I love about our new place so far:
  • the fireplace! ... with no heater in the house, the fireplace is heaven AND essential
  • living communally - I really enjoy it!
  • our great meals together
  • our CSA box
  • the compost
  • Oscar
  • our plan to get chickens!
  • the yard
  • the patio
  • the neighbors
  • 5 minute walk to the Goldline
... all this more than makes up for the fact that I know how a whole SEVEN minute commute to work.
